Chula Vista
“Beautiful View”
The City of Chula Vista
Located seven miles from downtown San Diego and seven miles from the Mexican border, Chula Vista is at the center of one of the richest economic and culturally diverse zones in the United States and, indeed, lives up to its Spanish name.
The natural history of the area can be traced back millions of years through prehistoric fossils of both land and sea types. Archaeological evidence shows at least 10,000 years of human habitation in the region.
As the second largest city in San Diego County, Chula Vista has quickly become a special destination for tourists. One of the nation’s few year-round U.S. Olympic Training centers is located here. Visitors can shop at the region’s newest lifestyle center, take in an outdoor concert at Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre, or make a splash at Knott’s Soak City USA.
Chula Vista hosts top-notch golf courses, a scenic marina, the Chula Vista Nature Center, beautiful parks, and an endless variety of dining, shopping, business, and leisure opportunities. Annual cultural events include the famous Lemon Festival, Starlight Parade, and Chula Vista Rose Festival.
Chula Vista is “Senior Friendly”
The Norman Park Senior Center is a community facility providing programs and services for persons who are contemplating retirement, retired, or home bound.
The center offers educational and health classes, social activities, creative writing, exercise programs, yoga, Tai Chi, cooking, singing, tap, line, round, square and ballroom dancing, craft classes, quilting, watercolors, SeniorNet Computer classes, bridge and a number of safetynet programs.
The center is home to many special interest groups such as the Garden club, Coin club, Antiques & Collectibles, Camera Club, Computer Club and South Bay Radio Club. The game room provides an area for billiards and shuffleboard. Currently, over 100 seniors volunteer at Norman Park.
